520	During his youh learned the carpenter's trade, serving an apprenticeship with Thomas Dixon, of Stamford. Later he was for many years a builder at Rye, N. Y., and with his partner, Robert Sloat, erected some of the best dwellings th ere, including the building for Episcopal Christ Church in 1850, of which he and his wife were members. In 1869 he returned to Stamford, where his remain ing days were spent. He was held in high esteem among his acquaintances for his excellent qualitites of character. Wit: Hendrik Janzm, Wilemtje Uendriks,and this person has been shown as the wife of Hendrick Lansing. This person is not the spouse of Hendrick Lansing, who came to America in 1640 with his father. The first child whose birth is known, their fourth child, Alida Lansing, was born 3 Jul 1685. Further, at the baptism, 19 Oct 1684, of Jacob, of Isaac Caspersz, Hendrick Lansing is a witness, and the child is presented by Lysbeth Lansing, so they apparently were married by then and she was an adult. The Ancestral File, LDS, shows Elizabeth "Lysbet" Jacobse, AFN 2S4F-VD, born abt 1655, died post 3 Jul 1685. This may also be wrong since according to The Lansing Family, A Genealogy of the Descendants of Gerrit Frederiickse Lansing, by Claude G.
